CONDITION: This volume is bound in green cloth and the title is stamped in gold print
on the front and spine of the volume.
The cloth is lifting in places on the front cover, while showing ordinary rubbing to the covers and
fairly heavy wear to the head and foot of the spine.
The corners of the boards have been bent some.
The spine text is clear and sharp, but there is a wrinkle in the cloth.
The page tops have been protected with gold leaf.
I have included images of the top and bottom of the book
to show that there are two signatures that are pulled, but still attached.
This is a first edition (later issue) published in New York City,
"PRESS OF J. J. LITTLE & CO. / ASTOR PLACE, NEW YORK."
with only four pages of advertisements in the back.
It appears to be a second issue because "Kidnapped" is included in the title list...
a title not published until later in the year.
This titles listing and preceeding blank page are attached behind the front fly leaf, appearantly tipped in.
No mention of XX thousand, or other indications of a later edition.
There is a former owner's book plate attached to a blank fly leaf, an attractive example of art neauveau.
Note that both the book plate and the title page images are extreme closeups.
Yeah, they look a little weird because I tilted each page to prevent reflection from the flash and this resulted in distorted perspective.
You get better perspective from the image that shows both the title page and facing title list.
The pictures are pretty big, so I have arranged to view them on individual pages as follows:

We also have a number of other specialty volumes. Here is a list containing most of our topics.
